Jeff Buckley Biopic in the Making

It’s quite surprising that it has taken this long for a Jeff Buckley inspired script to find its way into the hands of a zealous financier/willing director. The tragic ending to Buckley’s transitory career became one of the most fabled and mourned in history. Grace, which initially charted poorly, went on to become folklore, posthumous, and inspired the erection of Jeff Buckley posters in teenage girl’s bedrooms all over the world.

The script has been written by Ryan Gaffe (The Rocker) with the directorial aptitude of Jake Scott attached. Scott, a music video producer turned feature length guy, was involved with R.E.M, U2 and Radiohead clips which should provide a much needed impetus.

The paramount question is, who will play Jeff Buckley? The candidate would need to have a shit hot voice, chiseled jawline, epic guitar skills, charm and endearing charisma. The candidate would also have to not be a douchebag – which rules out Jared Leto, fortunately.

The obvious choice would have to be James Franco, I mean, come on. It’s the role he was born to play – just like Morgan Freeman’s inevitable transformation into Mandela.
