Jay-Z’s Birthday Gift To Beyoncé Was Sappy As Hell, He Remains A Total Dad

On Friday this week, Beyoncé turned 34, and when faced with the terrifying question of what to get goddamn Beyoncé for her birthday, Jay-Z and the rest of her loved ones banded together to make her a playlist, with personalised song dedications from each of them.
On the scale of gifts to give Beyoncé, ‘playlist’ is well below ‘Caibbean island’ but slightly above ‘coupon for free hugs’, but as they say, it’s the thought that counts.
The list, which was shared on Bey’s website, featured contributions from her parents Tina and Matthew, alongside Solange, Kelly Rowland and Poor Michelle Williams, but the selections from Jay and Blue Ivy really took the b-day cake.
Jay’s song of choice for his wife? Coldplay‘s uber-sappy ‘Yellow’. He said:
“This song reminds me of you and I on vacation. ‘Look at the stars, look how they shine for you.’ So many legendary nights. It represents vulnerability; it’s us in our own world, away from work and totally lost in love. ‘For you, I’ll bleed myself dry.’”

Blue Ivy’s choice, however, simply can not be dealt with. She opted for Jodi Benson‘s ‘Part Of Your World’, from The Little Mermaid soundtrack, saying “Mommy you sung this to me all the time. Happy birthday, Mommy!”
Kelly Rowland chose Mary J Blige‘s ‘What’s The 411?’, which they listened to on a sleepover as kids, to which, awwwww. You can see the full list here. Happy Bey day!
