WATCH: The One Where JAY-Z Subverts ‘Friends’ For His A+ ‘Moonlight’ Clip

A week after we caught our first teaser for JAY-Z’s new video clip for Moonlight, the seven-minute short film has been released in its entirety. Somehow, seven minutes is enough for Master of None director Alan Yang to imagine Friends with an entirely African American cast, before utterly subverting the concept.

Oh, Hannibal Buress also shows up. There’s a lot going on here, and it’s all good.

Featuring Jerrod Carmichael (The Carmichael Show) as Ross, Issa Rae (Insecure) as Rachel, Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) as Phoebe, LaKeith Stanfield (Atlanta) as Chandler, Lil Rey Howery (Get Out) as Joey and Tessa Thompson (Creed) as Monica, the clip imagines a show that ain’t so different at all. Until it is.

Combined with JAY-Z rapping “y’all stuck in La La Land, even when we win, we gon’ lose,” it’s a pretty powerful concept helmed by a wildly solid cast. Check it out:
