Electronic musician and blue-eyed soul singer, Jamie Lidell, has recruited a who’s who lineup of talent to feature on his forthcoming record “Compass”.
Feist and keyboard virtuoso, Gonzales will be reuniting with Lidell after previously having performed and recorded with him on different projects; American soul singer Nikka Costa will appear on the record, as well as Chris Taylor – bass player from Grizzly Bear and Wilco keyboardist Pat Sansone. Beck has also provided guest vocals and is given a songwriting credit on one of the album’s tracks. With such impressive talent enlisted, you can’t help but wonder what the hell Jamie himself is going to be doing on the record…
“Compass” will be Lidell’s first full-length release since his 2008 album “Jim”, which is due for Australian release in May through Inertia Records. In the meantime, he’ll be testing out some of the new tunes at a small number of shows, including a set at Playground Weekender in a couple of weeks.
