A Young’n From Melbourne Just Took Out 3rd Place In Junior Eurovision

12-year-old Melbourne schoolgirl Jael Wena has taken home an impressive third place at the Junior Eurovision singing competition in Belarus. 

Yeah look, not a bad effort.

After smashing her song Champion’, Jael took out the jury vote to come in with an overall 201 points in third place while France came second with 203 points. Poland scored the top prize with 215 points.

The year 7 student’s principal Anthony Stockwell described the champ as a “an amazing role model” who has a “beautiful nature and is approachable to all.” 

“We are extremely proud of her,” he said as reported by the Herald Sun

Taking to her Instagram, Wena shared the incredible news writing that she is “absolutely OVERWHELMED” by the result.

“THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the BEST experience of my life. I am so humbled by, and appreciative of, tonight’s events, every individual involved in the making of tonight, and EVERY single person who has supported Australia over the past 48 hours.” 

Jael continued by thanking her Aussie team for putting in the hours and for guiding her through this journey.

“My parents and my whole family back home – Your love and support has pushed me further than I thought I could ever go, and I am forever grateful for everyday you all help me achieve my dreams.” 

I can’t wait to get back to work when I get home, working on songs and sharing my passion with you all even more. I’m more motivated than ever because of this incredible time in my life I will never forget.
