INXS Says Nobody Approached Them For Tonight’s Michael Hutchence Doco

INXS has distanced itself from Channel Seven’s upcoming documentary on the band’s legendary former frontman Michael Hutchence, saying they weren’t approached to participate in the production at all.

In a statement from the band obtained by The Music, the Australian rock luminaries say producers of Michael Hutchence: The Last Rockstar didn’t reach out to the band in any capacity – and that any representation of the band in the two-part doco wasn’t authorised.

Universal Music Group, Petrol Records and the members of INXS have today confirmed that they were never approached for their opinion, consultation of the content, participation or comment in relation to the Michael Hutchence documentary on the Seven Network.

Publication of any image or recording concerning INXS or the Band Members is not an authorized publication.

For the Sydney Morning Herald, reviewer Neil McMahon writes the film features “an abundance of intimate interviews with those who knew him best,” including Bono, Simon Le Bon, and an old cut of Kylie Minogue.

Still, it’ll be an interesting watch without the presence of the band itself.

Michael Hutchence: The Last Rockstar is set to premiere at 7.30pm tonight on Channel Seven.
