INXS Disbands After Search For A Good Singer Proves Fruitless

Australian rock band INXS has officially called it quits after a 35 year career in the music biz and over 30 million records sold, after an ongoing – occasionally televised – search to find a replacement for the band’s late lead singer Michael Hutchence ultimately proved fruitless.

According to The Australian: INXS announced that Sunday night’s concert at Perth Arena [Note: they were supporting Matchbox 20 -_-] was their last ever performance… Drummer Jon Farriss announced the emotional news that they are disbanding about two thirds of the way through their set and admitted “I’m getting teary,” before they launched into one of their biggest hits, Need You Tonight.

And so a great band has (finally) officially called it a day. The lesson we can take from this is that Michael Hutchence was irreplaceable. Behold:
