Interpol’s Paul Banks To Release Solo EP In June

Do you miss Interpol like we miss Interpol? The post punk New Yorkers have been MIA for the last few years – we haven’t heard a peep from the band since 2010, coincidentally the year bassist Carlos D opted out of the group. We fear the worst for the band’s future, and thus we’ll grip tightly to whatever piece of the band we can. In this case the announcement that brooding baritone frontman Paul Banks has a five-track EP due on on 12 June, described by label Matador as “beautiful, brooding” which sounds promising.

The EP titled “Julian Plenti Lives…” will precede a full-length Paul Banks LP due later this year. The EP also features an original instrumental, and three covers of songs by J Dilla, Frank Sinatra, and Harold Faltermeyer (composer of the soundtrack to “The Running Man”). Will it be as good as the song below? No it will not.
