Indie Supergroup Does Christmas Song

Nothing wreaks of desperation quite like a star studded Christmas single and I say this for two reasons. Firstly, yuletide related anything is usually cheesy as hell and secondly, a dozen A-List celebrities circle jerking in a studio rarely sounds as good as it looks.

We can however, make an exception for Fucked Up’s reinterpretation of Bob Geldof’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas”. Gone are the flowing mullets of Bono, Boy George, Sting and George Michael replaced instead with Andrew W.K., Bob Mould, David Cross, Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend, GZA, Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene, Kyp Malone of TV On The Radio, Tegan and Sara and Yo La Tengo.

Its a great deal louder but more importantly a great deal less shit than the original and all proceeds go towards fighting domestic violence so if you’re feeling generous you can buy the track here.

I can’t wait til Fucked Up’s version becomes as passe as the 1984 original. Hello 3030 AD.

And now the glorious, star-studded original.
