Iggy Azalea Has Some Not-So-Kind Things To Say About Lorde’s Nirvana Tribute

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a newly-minted pop star in possession of a U.S. Number 1 hit must be in want of a beef. However little known the feelings or views of such a pop star upon entering the charts, this truth is so well fixed in her mind that it’s only a matter of time before she starts getting up in everyone’s faces and initiates some shit that she’d best be able to finish.

In other words, Iggy Azalea is now fighting with Lorde, and things are about to get hilariously messy. In a recent interview with Billboard, the ‘Fancy’ rapper took issue with Lorde’s participation in Nirvana‘s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction. Lorde sang the song ‘All Apologies’, while the likes of Kim Gordon, St Vincent and Joan Jett also appeared.

Azalea, however, felt that Lorde’s version of the song left a bit to be desired. “Nothing against her,” she told the magazine, “but I think when you’re doing a tribute to someone that’s dead, generally it should be the person’s peer. Lorde is not Kurt Cobain’s peer. No matter if she killed the performance or not, I just don’t think it’s appropriate.”

Lorde, who is currently on a magical summer tour, was last seen floating serenely in a pool while giving precisely zero phucks. There is no way of knowing how she will respond to Azalea’s taunt, but hopefully it takes the form of an ancient curse or a catchy diss track.
