Hudson Mohawke Continues Secret Show Blitz At GoodGod Tonight

Producer du jour and enviably young hip-hop collaborator Hudson Mohawke has just been announced as the headliner for a secret show at Sydney’s Goodgod Small Club tonight.
HudMo, known for his intergalactic bass-heavy trap production, collaborations with Jay-Z and Kanye West (he was a co-writer on G.O.O.D Music’s ‘Mercy’, among others) and his newest side project with Lunice, TNGHT, played Field Day festival on Tuesday and has decided to stick around, as did Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt and Spank Rock, who played an impromptu DJ set at the Flinders bar last night.

The announcement makes this the third high-profile UK act the venue have snuck into their DJ booth since midway through last year, coming hot off the heels of Jamie xx in July and Thom Yorke in November, not to mention Major Lazer’s Diplo dropping by recently as well.
Bookings Manager Joe Laney says it’s the venue’s proactive approach to seeking out new and great things which makes them the residence of choice for so many big names. “I think the biggest factor that has allowed us to host such amazing acts is that we actively reach out to those labels and crews that push music we find exciting. A lot of the crews we’ve hosted here – Young Turks (The xx), Mad Decent (Diplo) and now Numbers all kind of have this energising and independent DIY aesthetic – which runs parallel to how we do a lot of things here at Goodgod.

“We’re fortunate to be in a position where the venue is now gaining a bit of recognition with those artists we really respect overseas. It also helps that the Danceteria is perfect for those kind of club sounds – dark, low ceilings, intimate.
so yeah basically… a lot of it has come about because Jimmy Sing and I actually contact the people running these labels, have meetings with them, and invite them to do something special down at the club.
Hudmo tickets are door only, and the event starts at 11:30pm tonight. Event info here.
