How Is triple j’s Hottest 100 Looking At The Halfway Mark?

It’s Hottest 100 day, in which most Australians play at clamorous volume the results of triple j‘s democratic polling of the prior year’s most popular songs (as an accompaniment to beer drinking and backyard cricket). We’ve now reached the halfway point , so let’s take a quick look at where are we at.

At this point in the countdown 26 of the 50 songs voted in have come from local talent. Earlier this week triple j revealed that Australian artists make up 44% of the poll, so the next half of the Hottest 100 should have a lower percentage of Australian acts in the mix.
We’ve already seen a large handful of homegrown Hottest 100 regulars who’ve made an appearance in the 51-100 bracket, including Something For Kate, Josh Pyke, The Cat Empire, John Butler Trio and Sydney hip-hop crew Bliss n Eso – one of a few acts who’ve chocked up a double entry in the first half of the countdown.

Double entries have also been posted from Cloud Control, Bliss n Eso, Andy Bull, Bring Me The Horizon, Illy, and Queens Of The Stone Age.

Take a look at the songs ranked in the second 50 spots below. It’s time for me to grab a sherbet.
