Accurate Hottest 100 Site Returns With A Bold Gang Of Youths Prediction

With just over a month to go until Triple J reveals the results of the Hottest 100 poll, some Aussies are carrying out yet another beloved tradition: analysing publicly available data to determine who will secure the top spot on our most important musical countdown.

And now, the bloke who called eight out of ten for 2016 has come out with his early 2017 predictions.

Software engineer and pop prognosticator Nick Whyte has once again assessed social media posts bearing a slew of Hottest 100 hashtags, compiling their rankings for the 100 Warm Tunas project.

Based on nearly 1,000 rankings posted on Instagram – a number which is sure to balloon as we hurtle towards January 27 – Whyte’s analysis predicts Gang Of Youths to absolutely clean up.

While Kendrick Lamar’s HUMBLE. currently reigns supreme on Whyte’s rankings, Gang Of Youths sport three tracks in his predicted top ten.

The Deepest Sights, The Frankest Shadows, Let Me Down Easy, and What Can I Do If The Fire Goes Out?, all of which appear on their barnstorming ARIA Award-winning LP Go Farther In Lightness, dominate the leaderboard.

So far, Lorde, Methyl Ethel, Thundamentals, Ball Park Music, The Smith Street Band, and BROCKHAMPTON fill out the remaining six spots. You can scope out his predictions here, and keep an eye on the playlist below.
