Just a few months ago we were analysing the results of triple j’s Hottest 100 Australian Albums Of All Time poll.
Polls of this nature often yield hostile feedback on anonymous online forums featuring verbal vitriol and Hilltop Hoods lyrics, but in general the public response to triple j’s list was surprisingly positive. The only negative conjecture was about those albums that did not appear in the list – such as acclaimed Cut Copy joint Bright Like Neon Love, legitimate Oz classic The Triffids‘ Born Sandy Devotional and the least-known Powderfinger record (Golden Rule).
They may not have made the Hottest 100 but all three of these albums made the Hottest 200 Australian Albums Of All Time. triple J’s music director Richard Kingsmill revealed “Which albums almost made the Hottest 100 Australian Albums of all time?” on his blog, which means we can finally know how Sumo by Superjesus fared (#150) and find out how many Nick Cave records were voted in the top 200 (six).
