Ya sensitive boy Drake has shown off his latest ink on Instagram: a portrait of his mentor/inspo/the man who kicked off bb Aubrey’s rap career, Lil Wayne, occupying pride of place on his upper left arm, near a skull a Drakkar Noir bottle on his bicep.
Previously known mostly as Wheelchair Jimmy from ‘Degrassi: The Next Generation‘, Drizzy signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money in 2009, having only released a few mixtapes. He went on to release his debut studio record ‘Thank Me Later‘ in 2010.
Plz don’t come crashing into the comments to defend his early mixtapes. They were fine, good even. What I’m trying to say is we certainly didn’t have this yet:
It’s not Drake’s first tattoo as tribute to his heroes, musical or otherwise: he’s already got a number of tattoos of British singer-songwriter Sade, as well as pictures of the late Aaliyah and his parents, and the logo of grime crew Boy Better Know, founded by Skepta.
Plus who could forget the time last year when he and Rihanna got matching camo shark tattoos – his on his arm, and hers on his ankle.
Of course Lil Wayne is also Drake’s friend and frequent collaborator, most recently on ‘No Frauds’ with Nicki Minaj, so really it just makes sense that he would want to look in the mirror and see his m8’s face every day – sometimes through tears.
