A Bunch Of Schmick Headphones / Earbuds To Make Your Tunes Sound Even Better

I’m not a music connoisseur, by which I mean I don’t need my headphones / earbuds to be so amazing that I can hear the breaths of the drummer, or whatever you muso folks want in terms of sound. But I do like my tunes to sound tight and crisp – and regular ones often don’t cut the mustard when it comes to that.

Anyone can tell you it’s worth ditching your came-with-the-box phone earphones for something a bit better if you wanna listen to music on those babies. So we’ve rounded up some of the best on market, tried and tested by us.

1. Beats By Dre Solo3 Wireless

Beats By Dre Solo3 Wireless, $299.95

Everyone knows about these, but let’s discuss the newest version – Solo3 Wireless. 40 hours battery life, schmick sound and the ability to control your tunes and activate Siri with a tap. The wireless nature of them also means no tangles, which is a huge plus.

2. Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless

Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless, $499.95

These are PRICEY, but goddamn they are good. It’s all technical details but as someone who has trialled them, all I can say is the sound is crisp as hell, like you’re listening to a really good stereo and not via earbuds. Word of warning – make sure you pick the right sized rubber buds – there’s a selection that come with, and wearing the wrong ones will ruin the sound for you! Learned the hard way.

3. Sony WH1000XM3

Sony WH1000XM3, $395

One of the top rated over-ear headphones on market, the main wins here are comfort and tech that works to improve audio for YOU specifically – the headphones optimise their noise cancelling performance by analysing you – like ear and head shape, hair style and wearing style, then calibrate accordingly. Magnificent.

4. Apple Airpods

Apple Airpods, $249

Whatever your feelings about Airpods – the wireless earbuds everyone and their dog seems to have at the moment – you can’t deny the damn good reviews and ratings. Obviously a lot of this has to do with quick connectivity and ease of use with Apple products, but given many of us are Apple stans… these could be a good bet.

5. Jabra Elite Active 65T Wireless Earbuds

Jabra Elite Active Earbuds, $329

These top rated sports earbuds use Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity to ensure minimal call/music dropouts – the worst thing when jogging, IMO.

6. Bose QuietComfort 35 Series II Headphones

Bose QuietComfort Series II Headphones, $395

Block out ambient sound for noise-cancelling perfection, use Google Assistant to answer calls, read texts and so on, and worry less about ruining your headphones thanks to impact-resistant materials.
