Paramore's lead singer, Hayley Williams, has paid tribute to her late ex-husband, Chad Gilbert, calling him a “legend in the scene”.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday (AUS time), the “Parachute” singer shared an Instagram Story, admitting that she was unsure whether or not she should speak out following the death of New Found Glory singer and ex-husband, Chad Gilbert.
“[I] Have not known what to say or if it's appropriate. But I feel sure now that I want to [because] life is made of the paths we cross and the reasons we cross them are infinite,” Williams began.
“Chad is indeed a legend in the scene, and my time connected to him taught me a lot. He introduced me to people that continue to shape my life in beautiful ways, and to music and culture that have made life a lot richer.”
“There isn't much that hasn't already been said about what he contributed to the musical world a lot of us grew up in. His influence and attitude guided the genre forward. His passion for fostering the community was inspiring and sticks with me.”
Towards the end of her statement, Williams said she was “forever grateful” for him and that she “gained a deeper understanding and a reverence for the community and the culture of hardcore”.

Earlier this week, Gilbert's wife, Lisa Cimorelli, confirmed the “My Friends Over You” singer passed following his battle with cancer.
“On the morning of September 20, Chad Everett Gilbert passed away peacefully in his sleep,” Cimorelli wrote.
"He left this world surrounded by friends and family and took his final breaths with his wife and mother by his side, just as he wished.
“We are devastated and shocked by how quickly he left us, yet so grateful for how peacefully and smoothly he went.”
Williams and Gilbert were first linked back in 2007. However, Gilbert was still married to Eisley's Sherri DuPree.
The music power couple then got married in 2016, but unfortunately, split a year later.
Gilbert moved on and went on to marry Lisa Cimorelli in 2020. In 2021, the pair welcomed their daughter Lily. It was also the same year Gilbert was diagnosed with cancer.
Gilbert is survived by his wife, daughter, his mother, Jackie, and his brother, Brian.
