Singer Halsey is not one to shy away from her opinions, or sharing the very real aspects of her life. In the past she has opened up about various personal aspects of herself, such as the miscarriage she suffered a couple of years ago.
I think that the reason it happened is just the lifestyle I was living. I wasn’t drinking. I wasn’t doing drugs. I was fucking overworked, in the hospital every couple of weeks because I was dehydrated, needing bags of IVs brought to my greenroom. I was anemic, I was fainting. My body just broke the fuck down.
And her struggles with living life as a bi-racial artist.
I’m white-passing. I’ve accepted that about myself and have never tried to control anything about black culture that’s not mine. I’m proud to be in a biracial family, I’m proud of who I am, and I’m proud of my hair. One of my big jokes a long time ago was ‘I look white, but I still have white boys in my life asking me why my nipples are brown’. Every now and then I experience these racial blips. I look like a white girl, but I don’t feel like one. I’m a black woman. So it’s been weird navigating that.
And about having a social media break last year, and detailing her struggle with mental illness.
It makes me upset to have people abusing me for A,B,C or D online and it’s not because I’m over sensitive; it’s not because I take it to heart; it’s not because I’m overdramatic; it’s because I have a mental illness.
But thankfully, she is back on social media, and as forthright as ever.
Being a successful female musician will make you vulnerable to what all women on the Internet go through, having dickhead men comment unasked on your body, feminism and choices. In this case, Halsey posted a photo on her Instagram account of her appearance on the cover of Playboy.
And instead of just enjoying the photo that was shared, this moron decided instead to make the effort to leave a post, attempting to judge her.
Sorry mate, but Halsey was not going to put up with that, and posted another image that showed the man’s comment, and her fire response to him, with the caption “JUST so we are fucking CLEAR“. Yessss.
Sorry dudes, you don’t get to decide what is feminist activity for a woman to engage in. Got that, jerks?
