From the start of 2016, “Sesame Street” – the highly beloved vital cog in literally everyone’s childhood – is moving to premium cable channel HBO.
Whilst the arrival of Jim Henson‘s greatest legacy makes for an oddly colourful shock to HBO’s otherwise very-much-adult sensibilities, it’s an extremely shrewd move for the broadcaster, and for the show itself, having spent the past 45 years on US public broadcaster PBS.
But given that it’s the first major children’s show to grace the screens of HBO, it’s still something of a jarring juxtaposition to the rest of its programming.
Jimmy Kimmel Live recognised this, and quickly got on board in imagining how it might potentially fit in at its new home by jamming some otherwise innocent footage of Grover and other Muppety cohorts with some rather salty dialogue lifted from Game of Thrones.
