Gorillaz, Snoop Dogg and The Clash Stuck On A Desert Island

For a fictional band, Gorillaz possess some serious A-List pulling power. Their forthcoming LP “Plastic Beach” for example, finds the 2D primates collaborating with Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of the Clash, Mark E Smith of The Fall, Bobby Womack, Mos Def, De La Soul, Little Dragon and Snoop Dogg. I mean, The Clash and Snoop Doog on the same album for reals? Where else you gonna see that? Maybe the FIFA 10 video game soundtrack maybe but other than that NOWHERE.

According to a press release: “The band have taken up residence, recording on a secret floating island deep in the South Pacific, a Plastic Beach HQ, made up of the detritus, debris and washed up remnants of humanity. This Plastic Beach is the furthest point from any landmass on Earth; the most deserted spot on the planet.”

The outfit’s slinky first single “Stylo” (featuring Bobby Womack and Mos Def) is streaming now at www.gorillaz.com
