Good Charlotte To Cover Weezer’s Blue Album For The JD Set

Last month’s JD Set birthday bash honoured Sydney icons Icehouse with an Art vs. Science covers set that eventually featured Icehouse frontman Iva Davies. We hope the same rule applies next month when US pop punks Good Charlotte cover the greatest self titled debut of the nineties. We’re of course talking about The Blue Album aka Weezer’s Weezer aka the masterpiece which spawned “Undone – The Sweater Song”, “Buddy Holly”, “My Name Is Jonas”, “Holiday” and “Say It Ain’t So” aka the album we most associate with chain wallets and suburban house parties where everybody knew you. The tour kicks off in November and both our current and 15 year selves can’t wait.

Here’s what Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden had to say: “As everyone knows we consider Australia a second home. We are excited to have the opportunity to not only come to our favourite country but also perform some of our favourite songs from one of our favourite bands.”

They’re not joking about the favourite band part either. Check out a grainy homage below, El Scorcho performed in a mall circa 2000.
