The North American city of Pittsburgh has demonstrated its awesomeness today by officially recognising good partying takes precedence over copyright infringement by announcing an official city holiday in the name of mash up maverick Girl Talk AKA Gregg Gillis.

Local university paper The Pitt News reported that City Councilman Bill Peduto will sponsor a resolution declaring today – the 69th anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor – “Gregg Gillis Day” for the city of Pittsburgh.

Peduto said in a release yesterday that “Gregg has become an international sensation selling out performances around the world. I am honored to recognize all of the accomplishments of one of our native sons.”

That’s Council-speak for: you’ve made it bro!

Here you can see the official paperwork and his appropriately stoked reaction.
