Gigi Hadid Has Sort Of Apologised For Her Tone-Deaf Melania Trump Impression

Gigi Hadid has apologised on Twitter after her impersonation of the future First Lady Melania Trump did not go down well.

While hosting the American Music Awards on Sunday night, the 21 year-old model – who I have always thought to be a beautiful, progressive breath of fresh air, but maybe not? – made a deeply cringeworthy dig at Melania, parodying her physical features and accent (and of course, the plagiarism accusations) that left the audience in stitches.
I believe it to be barely watchable, but would you like to give it a try? Please.

There is a lot going on here that is bad, and Gigi has seemingly come around to that fact too. In a handwritten letter posted to her Twitter account, she acknowledges that she may have offended some people – but that’s kinda all she seems intent on accepting:
“I removed or changed anything that I felt took the joke too far, and whether or not you choose to see it, what remained was done in good humour and not bad intent. I too have been the centre of a nationally televised comedy skit that poked fun at my actions, and was able to find the humour in it.”

Hmm. Check out the rest of the post below:
