Future Music Festival Asia Ends Early After Six Overdose Deaths Confirmed

The organisers of Future Music Festival Asia 2014 have today confirmed that the cancellation of the final day of Southeast Asia’s biggest EDM event was due to six overdose deaths that occurred throughout the first two days. Initially, when the announcement came down from the FMF promoters (“In the interest of public safety we have heeded the authority’s advice to not proceed with Day-3 of Future Music Festival Asia 2014″) it was believed that one man had died at the Friday event ‘A State of Trance’, then today the sad news that five more between the ages of 21 and 28 had died and that two more were still in critical condition was confirmed.

According to the announce there is “an on-going investigation” looking into the overdoses, as it is being reported by Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh that all six victims took “the drug methamphetamine before going to the concert.”

It is also being reported that, of the nineteen festival-goers arrested for possession of drugs during the first two days, twelve are Aussies.
