Friendly Fires Diss MGMT

Friendly Fires guitarist Edd Gibson has taken a shot at MGMT after dissing the Brooklyn duo’s poorly received sophomore album DiscoveryCongratulations. [Ed: my bad. maybe had Daft Punk on the mind?].

In a recent interview with Scottish news site Daily Record Gibson spoke about the tracks for the follow-up to their self-titled debut.

He said: “I really hope we are not going to do what MGMT did. Whatever it is they have done, we want to steer well clear of it.

“I don’t understand why they would make such a leap, go from great pop songs to just any old acoustic music played in anyone’s bedroom.”

Meow.

If this is the music world’s next big beef, of two bands entirely peopled by skinny men who would fare better in a backstage brawl?

If shit does go down, maybe MGMT will be assisted by American tour support and fellow skinny men of psychedelic guitar jams Tame Impala… Although we sense that they are lovers, not fighters.

In any case the fact that MGMT’s latest offering has disappointed fans will only serve to make Tame Impala – and their epic forthcoming debut Innerspeaker – steal the show from their headlining brawl buddies.

The perfect crime.
