Foo Fighters To Stage Disaster Benefits

Dave Grohl really is a remarkable human being.

The Foo Fighters frontman has just announced that his band will be staging benefits in both Christchurch and Brisbane in response to the natural disasters which have rocked the areas. All profits from the Brisbane concert will go to the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal and all profits from the Auckland concert will go to the New Zealand Government’s Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. Which means that Foo Fighters are, in essence, playing two massive gigs for free. Legends.

Frontier Touring have also announced that the Brisbane gig will have supports from You Am I and winners of this year’s AMP Award, Cloud Control. The first support slot has been thrown open to a local Brissie band. So if you’re in the next next Nirvana, shoot your stuff with the title ‘Brisbane – Foo Fighters Submission’ over to info@frontiertouring.com.au with a link to your band’s music between Sunday 20th March and midnight on Monday March 21st.

This isn’t the first time Grohl and his crew have been super-awesome to Australians. After hearing that the trapped Beaconsfielf miners requested Ipods full of Foo Fighters songs, Grohl wrote an entire song for them, which appeared on the band’s last album Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace.

The NZ gig will be on March 22 at Auckland Town Hall, tickets on sale this Friday via The Edge.
The Brisbane gig will be on March 27 at The Riverstage, tickets on sale Monday March 21 via Ticketmaster.

As previously mentioned, all proceeds are going directly to the victims. This is Foo (F)ilanthropy at its best. Give that man an Order of Australia.
