BBC Radio 1 and Zane Lowe have gathered Foals, CHVRCHES, BANKS, SBTRKT, Jon Hopkins, Laura Mvula, the 1975, Baauer, Bastille, Bring Me The Horizon, Eric Prydz, the Neighbourhood, and ZCC (aka Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro) together to remake the incredibly popular soundtrack to ‘Drive.

All artists will be creating brand new songs for the project, entitled ‘Radio 1 Rescores: Drive – Curated by Zane Lowe,’ which will culminate in a screening of the complete film, wherein viewers can switch between the new accompaniment and the original, on BBC Three on the 30th of October. Who knows when or if Australian television will get it but, you know, where there’s a wifi there’s a way.

Lowe said of the project – “it’s the most ambitious, awesome thing we’ve ever done” – and Nicholas Winding Refn (Bronson, Drive, Only God Forgives) has expressed his support for the rescore, saying: “I consider it a great honor that my movie DRIVE inspired so many wonderful artists to come together and create one ultra-cool glam experience.”

Ultra-cool glam will hopefully prove to be an accurate assessment, especially considering the soundtrack was such a significant part of the ‘Drive’ vibe. As seen in ‘A Visual Summary of Drive‘:
