Flume Pretty Much Guarantees ‘Never Be Like You’ Will Take ‘Hottest 100’ #1

Australian music’s golden child Flume may have just locked in his Hottest 100 number one, with a stripped back version of his certified banger ‘Never Be Like You‘ this morning on Triple J.

The Sydney producer swung by the Triple J studios this week for one of the final ‘Like A Version‘ of 2016, bringing along music pals Vince Staples, KUCKA, Vera Blue and Ngaiire for the ride.

As well as performing an A+ cover of one-hit-wonder Ghost Town DJs‘ 1995 hit ‘My Boo‘ (made relevant in 2016 by cops running, ugh), Harley Streten and co. performed a reworked version of his now iconic choon.

‘Never Be Like You’ dropped on January 16 this year, putting it in the running for 2016’s ‘Hottest 100’ but giving it the distinct disadvantage of being well out of the public memory when it came time to voting.

Look, let’s not beat around the bush here – it was always, always going to do well, whenever it was released. I’d safely bet w/o this morning’s performance, it would have hit the Top 5 at least.

But today’s banger might just have locked this one right up. See ya’ in January.
