Flume Hangs Shit On The Lockout Laws In Best Dance Release ARIAs Speech

Sydney musician and DJ Flume is bloody cleaning up at the Arias, having been nominated for 11 awards and already having won Best Independent Release and Best Pop Release (among a bunch of others) and the night isn’t even bloody over.
Seems like the man will be giving a lot of acceptance speeches this evening, and he’s used one of those to throw some shade (as the kids say) at Baird and his wildly, wildly unpopular lockout laws.
He took the dig at the laws while accepting the Best Dance Release award for ‘Skin‘, and said that movements like Keep Sydney Open are vital to Sydney’s music scene:
“I want to say a big thank you to the venues, especially the small venues and the small parties that are doing what they’re doing, because that’s where music evolves, that’s where all the exiting stuff happens, and that’s what’s getting shut down right now.

“To our policy makers and our politicians, please keep Sydney open so that the young artists, so that the next generations of musicians, can have the same opportunities that I had.”
Onya mate, well said.
