Florence + The Machine Album Details Revealed

Florence and The Machine‘s millions of fans will be stoked with the prospect of hearing new tunes from their favourite batwing sleeve wearing songstress. In an interview with British radio station BBC 6MUSIC, producer Paul Epworth has revealed details of the band’s second album.

Epworth co-produced the band’s hugely successful debut Lungs and was again enlisted for knob twiddling on album #2 which is currently being recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. He said, “It is going to be a bit more stripped, but there’s quite a heavy, rhythmic side to it — even heavier than, I think, the first record.”

“It’s a little bit less indie and bit more soulful. It’s definitely still got her blues and slightly ethereal feeling to it, but it’s Flo Version 2.0.”

Florence herself had alluded to the heavier sound when we Pedestrian spoke to her in early 2010 when the band were touring for the Laneway Festival. Watch the footage below in which she describs the new album as “punkier” than Lungs:

Epworth said the so-called Flo V2.0 will be completed by the end of July, so expect to hear new stuff from Ms Welch’s hefty lungs in the not-too-distant future.
