The first act for Splendour in the Grass has been leaked via an interview and we can tell you it’s not Arcade Fire. Nor is it Radio Head, Kanye West or the Cure. It is however, a band included on that counterfeit poster.
We can tell you that the first confirmed act is English newbies, The Vaccines.
In an interview with Adelaide’s RIPITUP, guitarist Freddy Cowan managed to slid the band’s inclusion into the conversation. The link was removed sometime this morning, which leads us to believe that Freddy spoke to soon.
Earlier this year The Vaccines were placed third in the BBC’s Sound of 2011 poll behind James Blake and Jessie J. To put that into perspective, they’re sitting in the same position as Florence and the Machine, Marina and the Diamonds, Delphic, and the Klaxons – all of whom secured the bronze medal in their respective years. If history is to repeat itself, a bright future lies ahead.
