The quaint as hell NSW south coast township of Berry, with its perfect rolling hills, adorable small-town stores and arguably the best fresh hot cinnamon doughnuts in the whole country (fight me), is playing host to a bloody smorgasbord of incredibly good talent again this November/December for the annual Fairgrounds Festival.
The two-day bonanza is almost like a mini-Meredith, with Vance Joy, Courtney Barnett, POND, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, and Winston Surfshirt among the Aussie talent taking the stage, and Billy Bragg, The Breeders, Waxahatchee, and more stopping in during their time in the country.
Fairgrounds is almost like a big festival version of a country town’s annual agricultural show or a big ol’ school fête, filled with good local food, the town’s pool open for a quick dip, a hefty record fair, and heaps of classic primary-school-level games to be played. I’m calling it – Fairgrounds is the most bloody wholesome festival in all of Australia at the moment.
LOOK. SO WHOLESOME. It’s too much on my heart.
General sale tickets go on sale over on the Moshtix website from 10am Monday August 13 (yes, so that’s today and right bloody NOW) and there are riverside camping options and cheap entry for kiddos under 12.
Peep the full lineup below and begin the yearn for that golden moment when spring flicks into summer.
