Exclusive: Future Cut for Bulmers Best of Britain Series

Pedestrian has teamed up with cider specialists Bulmers on Best Of Britain, an original web series dedicated to profiling the irresistibly unique talent that Britain’s been breeding. This instalment showcases Future Cut revealing little known gems and favourite spots around town, together with candid insights into what is personally important about Being British.

Tunde Babalola and Darren Lewis, AKA Future Cut, have the kind of ‘from humble beginnings’ backstory that makes their successes seem a whole lot sweeter. They met flyering for some clubs back in ’98, and over shared enthusiasm for the underground music scene. From there, they begun DJing, programming and remixing together, which funded them early on. Circa now, they’ve some top-notch notches on their belt. Producing and co-writing half of Lily Allen’s 3-million selling debut album ‘Alright, Still’, including the album’s two biggest hits ‘Smile’ and ‘LDN’ is a mentionable feat. Since then, they’ve worked with the likes of Nicole Scherzinger, Shakira, Professor Green, Devlin and Dizzee Rascal, and have contributed to over 25 million record sales, three UK #1 hits and a further eleven international chart-toppers.
To them, the premise of their work remains unchanged since the beginning: making tunes and not being pop stars. This is known as ‘keeping it real’ and not ‘selling out’— both I hear are v important. So, touché Lewis and man of stunning surname, Babalola. Here’s their full story:
