Elton John Teams Up With Queens Of The Stone Age

WTF musical collaborations don’t come more out of the box than Sir Elton John’s appearance on the upcoming Queens Of The Stone Age album. Speaking with fellow musical chameleon, current QOTSA drummer, and Chelsea Lately stand-in host Dave Grohl, Sir Elton confirmed that he was a massive fan of Josh Homme’s and that the collaboration was most certainly NOT a ballad.

I was in Vegas and I flew back to LA and Engelbert Humperdinck had
written me a very sweet letter and asked me to sing a duet with him. He
is part of my history and I couldn’t say no so I went and recorded a
song with him. Then I drove three blocks and went from Engelbert to
Queens Of The Stone Age, which was a bit of a mindfuck
.”

Yes, consider our minds fucked also Sir Elton. Mutual backslapping aside (they’ve probably earned it), it’s a pretty entertaining interview with Sir Elton hinting at a future live collaboration and suggesting Grohl should finally come out of the closet.
