The accounts indicate that in the three-year period from 2014 to 2016, the singer raked in approximately $AU67.4 million, with a staggering $AU29.4 million last year alone.
That number is even more impressive considering that he effectively took the year off, with no new music released, meaning much of it came from the sales of older material.
Ed Sheeran has already had a big 2017, with his album Divide officially certified as the biggest “entertainment product” of the year so far, surpassing more than 2 million sales.
His accountants state his company expects “similar results” this year as last, and if “similar results” means a metric shitload of money, then I guess that’s pretty spot on.
Per reports in The Sun, Sheeran is the highest-earning male pop star in the UK, with an estimated net worth of $AU47.9 million.
Impressive as that is, it’s a long way behind Adele, who is the highest-earning pop star overall, with a staggering estimated net worth of $AU87.2 million.
