So it turns out we aren’t the only ones totally psyched on thrash-party Brisbane duo DZ Deathrays. A little Brit publication called NME voted them No. 8 in their list of 50 Best New Bands Of 2011. Overnight it was announced that Jen Long (presenter from BBC 1) and Transgressive Records (who release Foals and Pulled Apart By Horses) have joined forces to create a new label in the UK called Kissability and will be releasing a limited edition DZ Deathrays cassette in mid September as their first release. It was also announced that Big Scary Monsters (Andrew WK) will be releasing the band’s EP throughout Europe. So basically we’re looking at Kylie Minogue levels of impending stardom here.
The band played a string of shows with Brooklyn hardcore dudes Cerebral Ballzy and showcased at The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City Festival in May, 2011.
Here’s your first look at footage from their tour of the UK.
