Drake Stunts On Us Mortals, Surprises Rihanna With A Goddamn Billboard

It started with the jean-teasin’ clip for Work. It blossomed into a full-blown conspiracy theory / shipper’s literal wet dream. Now, the possible revival of Drake and Rihanna’s cosmically-perfect union has been further bolstered by the appearance of a billboard devoted to the woman herself.

It’s big. It’s black. It reads “Congratulations to Rihanna from Drake and everyone at Ovo.  It’s more than likely in reference to Rihanna’s selection as the ‘Video Vanguard’ for tomorrow’s Video Music Awards. It makes us rue the mediocrity of our own existence.
Actress Yara Shahidi of Black-Ish fame first spotted the ad, Tweeting it straight to RiRi with the totally accurate caption Champagne Papi doin it right #goals.” Later, the target of said Papi’s affections reposted the shot to her Insta, clearly chuffed with the entire scenario.

When he extra ???!!!

FWIW, she’s up for a slew of gongs at the Awards, including Best Female Video for Work, Best Male Video for her collab with Calvin Harris on This Is What You Came For, plus she’s taking a tilt at Best Collaboration for both of those tracks as well.

Drizzy is also in line to pick up awards for Video Of The Year, Best Hip Hop Video and Best Art Direction for Hotline Bling. Such a pity that light-filled wonderment dropped in the same year Kanye’s Famous did, but hey: the bloke is still doing well enough to flatter a goddamn queen with surprise jumbo advertisements.
