Drake Himself Reportedly Wrote The Catchiest Hook On Kanye’s New Album

Now that the dust has settled on Kanye‘s semi-surprise release of ye and everyone’s wrapping their head around whether or not they actually like it, there’s some high level rap beef forensics going on in an attempt to ascertain exactly who was involved on the album. The latest ‘confirmed’ conspiracy theory is that Drake himself authored the hook for Yikes.

Hot 97 radio personality Peter Rosenberg made the claim on the air, suggesting that Drake wrote the melody for the chorus but had his credit removed from the album.

“It is now a confirmed thing that Drake wrote the hook for ‘Yikes,’” Rosenberg says in the clip. “It may be the best melody on the album when you go listen to it.”

Though this would seem a little odd given the fact Drake just had his life entirely ruined by Kanye collaborator Pusha T, it’s entirely within the realm of possibility. Drake has been working formally and informally in Kanye’s camp for ages – as far back as My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, in fact. He was very happy to namedrop his involvement in a number of Kanye tracks in his Pusha diss track Duppy FreestyleI guess it’s relevant that Pusha then responded by ethering Drake’s soul from orbit.

If Drake indeed contributed to the album, it may or may not explain why Kanye felt the need to obliquely reference the end of an unnamed beef in a tweet, though. Just saying.

If it’s true… nice! Regardless of your opinion on the album as a whole, you’ve gotta admit the chorus of Yikes is a bop – it’s probably the most memorable refrain in the entire production, in fact. Let’s see if it gets further confirmed, and if so… why’d they do Drake so dirty in the credits?
