Drake Goes 2 For 2 As Spotify’s Most-Played Artist With 4.7Billion Hits

Drake is constantly on the up. It seems like every year he outdoes himself by releasing an even catchier, poppier banger. Ever since hitting the scene, he’s probs wholly responsible for the songs that get stuck in your brain that refuse to fuck off.
Still, we just can’t get enough of Drizzy’s tasty chewns, and it looks like nobody else can either. Unsurprisingly, Spotify has announced that Drake is the most streamed artist on their service for the second year in a row.
At the end of every year, Spotify releases a roundup of annual stats, divided into classic award ceremony categories like ‘Top Song’ and ‘Top Breakout Artist’. While Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots and Kanye West also did a p. good job, Drake cleaned up real good.
While Drake has taken the hallowed spot of the most streamed artist before, he copped a whopping 4.7 billion streams this year, knocking his 1.8 billion plays in 2015 out of the park. To top it off, Views is the most streamed album of the year, and One Dance is the most streamed song overall.
Last month it was announced that One Dance is in fact the most streamed song in Spotify history, so there’s that too.
At this point, we don’t reckon Driz is ever gonna stop casually breaking music records. Check back in 2017 to see if his next unthinkably catchy release earns him a third most-played nod.
