Whip out your battle jackets: Download Festival is officially heading to Australia, to help fill that Soundwave-sized hole in our hearts.
Following months of speculation, the famed heavy music fest has announced its arrival in Melbourne on March 24 next year. 29 acts will be spread across four stages at Flemington Racecourse for the one-day event.

As for which acts will grace our shores with their crushing presence: we don’t know. Yet.
The first line-up announcement will arrive next Thursday, but that won’t stop us from mad speculation. This year’s three-day festival in the UK saw names like System Of A Down, Aerosmith, Slayer, and Mastodon tear it the hell up, so it’s not ridiculous to expect a few names of that calibre.
Throwback hard rock and modern metalcore was provided by our very own Airbourne and Northlane, respectively, so it’s possible local acts of that stature will bolster the horn-throwing ranks.
We’ll keep you up to date on any news regarding this one, as we limber up for our long-awaited escape from moshpit retirement.
