30 Y.O. DJ Dies After Stage Collapses In Severe Weather At EDM Festival

DJ Kalleby Freitas da Rosa has died after a horrific stage collapse at Brazil‘s Atmosphere festival in Porto Alegre.

The 30-year-old, who performed as DJ Kaleb Freitas, was performing at the time when severe weather caused scaffolding above the stage to collapse, injuring several people. The Sun is reporting that Freitas suffered head injuries and was rushed to hospital, but died shortly after.

In a statement, the festival’s organisers said they are focusing on assisting those involved:

We always cherish the safety of our attendees, following all the processes, reports and authorizations requested by the local authorities we lost a friend, an artist. Our priority is to assist the wounded and their families.

An investigation will be undertaken as to how the events unfolded, with severe weather warnings having been issued for heavy winds, hail, and torrential rain.

The footage is horrifying, showing an enormous amount of metal falling down on the stage as it is buckled by the weather:

There were roughly 5,000 people in attendance when the collapse occurred.
