DJ Ajax Reportedly Killed In A Car Accident

DJ Ajax real name Adrian Thomas has tragically died in a car accident in Melbourne overnight.

According to police reports, the Melbourne based DJ, founding member of Sydney’s Bang Gang DJs and founder and label head of the Sweat It Out dance imprint was fatally stuck by a truck in the Melbourne suburb of Parkville last night.

Thomas is reported to have run onto a road in Parkville where was struck and killed by a north-bound truck in the early hours of Thursday morning.

“It’s believed the man ran in front of the north-bound truck
on College Crescent shortly before 1am,”
a
Victoria Police spokeswoman said. “He died at the scene.”

Thomas was a charismatic and beloved member of the Australian dance music community and consistently ranked among the best DJs in Australia. He topped the annual In The Mix 50 polls in both 2006 and 2007, where he was a perennial fixture, and was named 3D World DJ of the year in 2004 and in 2005. Thomas also made regular appearances at Australian dance music festivals including Parklife, Big Day Out, Stereosonic, and Splendour in the Grass and supported international dance heavyweights such as MSTRKRFT, Tiga, Mylo, 2 Many DJs, Daft Punk, Justice and Bloody Beetroots.

Social media has since been inundated with tributes to Thomas remembering him as a talented and passionate DJ, a galvanising force in Australia’s dance music culture, and a kind and loyal friend. He will be missed.
