So McDonald’s wants to be cool and appeal to single dads?

In America the golden arches have started packing ready made steez into their Happy Meals by way of a Devo inspired Devo replica figurine called “New Wave Nigel” as part of an American Idol musical toy series.

“This New Wave Nigel doll that they’ve created is just a complete Devo rip-off and the red hat is exactly the red hat that I designed, and it’s copyrighted and trademarked. We’re in the midst of suing them…they didn’t ask us anything. Plus, we don’t like McDonald’s, and we don’t like ‘American Idol’.” Devo’s bassist Gerard Castle told AAP.

The voice behind Devo’s online page isn’t down either: “Not only is Nigel wearing an approximation of Devo’s iconic “energy dome” hat, he also rocks an orange jumpsuit, sports some angular shades, and even plays a song “Devo-esque” track.”

The band have now been legally bound and gagged, but we’ll keep you up to date as news comes to hand – Devo interview in August…

Will McDonald’s Australia please hurry up and start including toys from our favourite Modular artists in their happy meals, I can’t wait to see the Muscles one wrapped in fairy lights.

Also I don’t know about you but I’m pretty excited to be the highest bidder on this Devo toy I found on ebay.
