Dave Grohl Pays Tribute To Motörhead’s Lemmy With Ace Of Spades Tattoo

Yesterday, the music world was rocked with news of the death of Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister, frontman for era-defining rock / metal band Motörhead and an icon of the rock scene.

The band confirmed his death on Facebook, saying that Lemmy, 70, had died after a brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer.

Among the thousands of tributes coming in from the music world and beyond is this one from rock mainstay Dave Grohl, who got a new tattoo to honour the deceased rock star.



Grohl’s new ink is, of course, in reference to Motörhead’s 1980 album + title track Ace of Spades, and arguably one of the greatest songs in any genre to come out of the last century.

“One of the verses from that song – You know I’m born to lose/’cause gambling’s for fools/but that’s the way I like it/baby, I don’t wanna live forever – now rings painfully true for a man who always seemed like he would.
