Daniel Johns Working On Talking Heads Inspired Album With Luke Steele

The enigmatic essence of Luke Steele won’t be absent from the studio long when he’s done touring Empire of the Sun’s new album, Ice On The Dune. In an interview we conducted last week, the Perth born singer-songwriter revealed to Pedestrian that he is close to finishing an album with good friend and collaborator Daniel Johns loosely “inspired by African music” with nods to Talking Heads and The Clash.

In 2008, Steele spent six weeks writing and recording at Johns’ home studio in Newcastle. “Dan is William Hathaway and I’m Walter Palmer,” he told Richard Kingsmill at the time. “So it’s going to be Hathaway and Palmer.”

Sure. Because one alter ego isn’t enough. Look out for more from Steele in the coming days.
