D’Angelo Back In The Studio With Questlove

D’Angelo fans have had a pretty rough decade.

Conspicuously absent from the scene since his critically-acclaimed sophomore album, Voodoo, dropped back in 2000, the neo-soul legend has spent the last eleven years making headlines for all the wrong reasons and many feared he’d never record again. But today comes fresh word from one of hip-hop’s most trusted voices – Questlove from The Roots – who said on his private Facebook account that he’s back in the studio with the singer, leading to speculation that he may be drumming on as well as producing the long-awaited third record.

D’Angelo has courted controversy since his rise to fame in the late ’90s, with a well-publicised descent into addiction and deppression as well as that incidient where he tried to solicit sex…from a female cop. If Questlove isn’t messing with us, the genetically-blessed crooner may pip Dr Dre, whose Detox record has been pushed back so many times it’s now nearly as old as he was when he first started with NWA, to the post.

Get those cornrows ready.
