Courtney Barnett Appeared On Ellen, Melted Hearts Worldwide

We can say without any sense of hyperbole that here in the PEDESTRIAN.TV offices, Melbourne-via-Hobart legend Courtney Barnett‘s new album “Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit” is just about our consensus most anticipated album of the year.

And with that Friday 20th March release date now agonisingly close, we’re beyond stoked that we’re starting to see and hear her magnificent, heartfelt tunes in more places around the traps.
Case in point, Barnett and her band – The Courtney Barnetts – are currently in the US en route to a string of appearances on some of the biggest and most sough-after showcase bills at the annual, sprawling SXSW (including gigs for Pitchfork, Spin and NPR among others).
But before that happens, the gang found the time to casually drop by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to lay down a cut from the new LP.
Like Chet Faker before her, DeGeneres introduced Barnett as “one of my favourite new artists,” and added “I love her so much.
Though the episode doesn’t air till midday Australian time (and also features guests like Michelle Freakin’ Obama), footage of Barnett’s lilting, dreamy performance of “Depreston” has made its way online. Don’t argue with us, hit play now.

And because we cannot get enough of either Courtney or Ellen-related things, here’s the gal of the hour doing a little backstage prep and promo, thanks to the majesty of Facebook.

Killing. It.
Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit is out on Friday 20th March via Milk! Records/Remote Control. Barnett’s national album release tour kicks off on May 1st in Adelaide. Full tour dates, ticket info, and album pre-orders can be gotten well around right here.
