It’s official. Cody Simpson has officially immortalised his love for Miley Cyrus in the form of a song. That’s a pretty big sign that this romance is serious, right?
His latest track Golden Thing dropped on Friday October 18, and unsurprisingly, it’s all about Miley.

The acoustic track is that typical dreamy romance vibe you’d expect from Cody Simpson, and the sweet lyrics pretty obviously capture his feelings towards his new love interest.
In an interview with HollywoodLife, Cody basically spilled the beans that he wrote the song for Miley, and she ended up encouraging him to release it to our unworthy ears.
“I wrote her a song this week that she’s pretty much forcing me to put out,” he said. “She was like, ‘If you don’t put this shit out, I’m putting it out on your behalf for you. I’m getting your Spotify login and doing this shit myself.’
Honestly, their romance sounds very The Last Song-esque and it makes me really sad that things didn’t work out with her and Liam. But regardless, she’s got another Aussie in her life that writes her sweet, sweet love songs when she’s feeling sick.
According to HollywoodLife, this is the song Cody serenaded his new-found love interest with in hospital after she got her tonsils removed. Thank fuck, we don’t have to witness a Camila and Shawn-eqsue tonsil tennis rematch.
“This sweeeeeet guy came to visit and the hospital and sang the sweeeeeetest song he wrote just for me,” Miley said in an Instagram story.
He’s been dropping hints for the new track for a few days now, with this sneaky lyric tweet on October 17. So fans obviously lost their mind when the song finally dropped.

Cody hasn’t released an album since back in 2015 when he dropped Free so hopefully we get a whole Miley-dedicated album soon. Actually, here’s hoping Miley releases her own bangers about their lusty love affair. I need some new Miley tunes to get me through the week.
