Childish Gambino, BLACKPINK & Kacey Musgraves Lead Coachella 2019 Day One

Childish Gambino, Kacey Musgraves, and BLACKPINK – to name three – left their mark on the Coachella stage on Day One of the mammoth festival, leaving fans extremely entertained. Between those three acts alone history was made, Guava Island ft. Rihanna was finally unleashed to the public, and country goddess Musgraves gloriously yelled “YEEHAWW” over and over again. If you weren’t able to tune in to YouTube‘s livestream of the fest, here are some of the highlights of Coachella 2019, Day One.

Kacey Musgraves

Musgraves, queen of the golden hour, brought major yeehaw energy to her very first Coachella. She also invited absolute badass Baddie Winkle onstage – the coolest fucking 90-year-old out there for her final song, ‘High Horse’.

She opened her set with ‘Slow Burn’ off of her Grammy-winning album Golden Hour and followed it with tunes including ‘Butterflies’, ‘Wonder Woman’, ‘Lonely Weekend’, and ‘Love Is A Wild Thing’.

Her orange, sparkly fringe dress is a bloody huge country mood.

“WHEN I SAY YEE, YOU SAY HAW”, *forgets to say YEE*.

BLACKPINK casually made history at Coachella when they became the first-ever Korean girl group to perform at the fest and in a prime slot at that. The general consensus is they absolutely killed their set and look, who’s even surprised?

Of course they performed ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ and slayed fans with ‘Whistle’ and ‘Forever Young’.

Rosé told the crowd she and Lisa couldn’t sleep the night before.

“Seeing so many people here tonight, we are hyped up,” Lisa said.

Childish Gambino

Donald Glover wrapped up Day One with flecks of gold still in his beard after the Grammys. He delighted fans with ‘Summertime Magic’, ‘Have Some Love‘, and ‘Boogieman’ and paid tribute to the late Mac Miller, Nipsey Hussle, and his late father who died last December.

He, of course, ended his set with ‘This Is America’ and ‘Redbone’.

Glover’s Guava Island,  featuring Rihanna, is now free to stream on Amazon Prime Video without a subscription until 6:00pm Saturday PT (11:00am Sunday AEST). You’ve still got plenty of time.

The movie will also hit for free at 5:00pm PT on Saturday (10:00am Sunday AEST).

The movie is directed by Hiro Murai, of Atlanta and Glover’s ‘This Is America’ music video, and also stars Black Panthers’ Letitia Wright and Game of Thrones’ Nonso Anozie.

DJ Snake Ft. A Surprise Cardi B, Ozuna & Selena Gomez

Yeah, you read that right. To wrap up Night One, DJ Snake brought out Cardi B, Ozuna, and Selena Gomez for a performance of ‘Taki Taki’.

The faves: Bec Judd, Nadia Bartel, Jessie Murphy, Kylie Brown, and stylist Lana Wilkinson.

Jordyn Woods, way past the drama, actually appeared onstage during Jaden Smith‘s set at the fest.

Here are supermodels Winnie Harlow and Gizele Oliveira looking festy as hell.

Behold, Korean-American k-pop star Tiffany Young.

Oooof, Selena Gomez looked good.

Angels Halsey and Yungblud as adorable as ever.

And lastly sisters, the and only James Charles.
