It was announced exactly a week ago that Donald Glover / Childish Gambino‘s new album, ‘Awaken, My Love‘ would be released on December 2nd. With the news, the first track was dropped, and it received some rather, err – let’s say passionately-worded reviews.
Critics have already described it “R&B meets Pink Floyd“, but many long-time fans of the rapper are disappointed to see the demise of his glitchy, fun ‘because the internet‘ aesthetic, which has been replaced by the birth of a eclectic and soulful sound.
Today, the second single from the album has debuted on Annie Mac’s Hottest Record show on BBC Radio 1 – it’s titled ‘Redbone’.
About the single, Annie Mac tweeted, “It’s really not what you’d expect “.
Hottest Record tonight is the world exclusive of ‘Redbone’ from @donaldglover – it’s really not what you would expect ?? @BBCR1

She also said during the debut that the track is “oozing with soul”, which is understandable when you hear Glover‘s impressive falsetto.
